Note : Here's an unrepentant piece of vigilante exploitation trash for you, James Glickenhaus' "breakthrough", if you can call it that, a nasty, sadistic revenge fantasy about killing and torturing the New York City denizens who a certain type of antisocial Vietnam veteran might not like, including latino gang members with Che Guevara posters on their walls, pimps, pedophiles, and mafia bosses. It's by no means a great film, nor maybe as action-filled as it should be, but it does manage a certain gritty, gruesome realism. Stars goofy-looking everyman Robert Ginty, as well as exploitation and horror regulars Christopher George, Samantha Eggar, and Steve James.
Vietnam veteran John Eastland's best friend, the man who saved his life in the war, is crippled in a vicious attack by a street gang, and Eastland vows revenge. He goes savage on the gang members with flamethrowers, automatic weapons, and starving rats, and later expands his vigilante activity to a mob boss who's charging his employer protection money. As the press starts writing about "The Exterminator", pedophiles and pimps also fall to Eastland's brand of justice, while detective Dalton is hot on his trail, and even the CIA gets involved for some reason.
This is a bit of an image quality upgrade over my previous encode, and apart from the increased bitrate, you also get an additional commentary track, and subtitles. All in all, a decent upgrade.
