Episodes: Think about you Feel your heart This release includes two interviews with the VAs from DVD extras (lazily translated by me), and “Behind the Scenes” LD extra (with subs from Obscurerips release, not sure who was the TL), but I didn’t include any of the “character profile” extras because I don’t care, and the “Tokimeki Memorial 2 Opening Animation” extra because it’s literally the episode 2 ending with a different song, I don’t know why it was included on the LD in the first place. I’m also sad to note that there are quite the few audio dropouts in episode 2, from about minute 13 to minute 19, but I don’t have the skills to fix it. These subs have quite the history. This show was first translated by [Crossfade] in 2006, and as far as I can tell, it was stuck in hardsubbed state until this year, when WOWmd captured an LD with it and Obscurerips bundled it with OCRed subs. I have revised said subs, checked the translation, and typeset. These were very 2000s subs. The last 5 minutes of the second episode are a blooper reel and a recording of VAs celebrating the completion of this OVA. I translated it extremely lazily and you can’t judge me for that. When the glasses girl asks Fujisaki “So you’re into that kind of books,” she refers to the book “One” by Richard Bach. It’s about parallel universes and alternate worlds. For an anime, heavily based on a visual novel, referencing that kind of book is a very meta move. So is the elusive explanation of “that person” phenomena, symbolizing detachment and uncertainty, because we don’t know who the protagonist of this game is and whether he’ll succeed in completing any of the girls’ route. That is, if you’re willing to listen and complement this anime with your own head canon, because otherwise it is utterly impenetrable hot mess. Basically, it is just “cute girls doing cute things,” with pretty graphics and a decent OST. But other than that, this show is completely devoid of substance. We (Perevodildo) have no plans to touch any of the other Tokimeki Memorial properties (I’m sure they’re in better shape sub-wise anyway, probably at least enough to spell the show’s title correctly), except for a very special one that WOWmd had already acquired. Stay tuned to find out. I’ve been sitting on this sub for a month, during which even Marty Mcflies jumped ship after episode 1, and I couldn’t find another QC, which, considering this was effectively a retranslation, never bodes well, but c’est la vie—this show is too ungiveafuckable for anyone else to watch, and finding a QC for it (or any willing collaborators at all) is literally impossible.
