Tears for Fears is a hit-making duo that pairs big melodies with big subjects -- their very name is derived from Arthur Janov's primal scream therapy. Driven by catchy, infectious synth pop, their debut album, The Hurting, became a massive hit in their native England, setting the stage for international stardom with their second album, 1985's Songs from the Big Chair. On the strength of the singles "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Shout," the record established the duo as one of the second-generation MTV stars' leading acts. After their third album, The Seeds of Love, Curt Smith left and Roland Orzabal continued solo.
