Subs: iHog
iHog’s subs included a signs track made from JaneDoeSubs, an edit of JaneDoeSubs’ full subtitles which includes line break fixes, spelling corrections, spacing, etc., and Funimation retail subs. I fixed a line in episode 1 @ 38:24, and added missing lines in episode 2 @ 29:02 and 32:22 respectively (note that I did not make these corrections in the original JaneDoeSubs, only in the stylized ones). More about those lines below (contain minor spoiler). Like the other releases, I made a separate sub track using the font (Shancalluna) and styling that Dekinai used. I left the commentary track for episode 2.
The lines that I added were French dialogue that was not translated in iHog’s release. The one @ 32:22 was a simple copy and paste since it was a flashback to what was said @28:50. The added line @ 29:02 is where it gets interesting. The dialogue is a flashback to what a certain character said in episode 1 @ 30:43, however the character spoke in Japanese during that scene and spoke French in the episode 2 flashback. I don’t speak or know French so I have no way of knowing if there was a change in the dialogue for the flashback as well. What made sense was to copy and paste the dialogue from episode 1 (if you listen carefully the character makes a brief pause in both languages so my guess is it is in fact the same thing that’s being said. I compared with Funimation’s script which made no sense at all however the [Bananasichik & Jane Doe Sub] subs from TLK’s release had a similar translation. It’s brief however an interesting occurrence.
