Description

Intruder (1989), directed by Scott Spiegel, V2, director's cut, 88 Films remaster, encoded in 10 bit HEVC with AAC sound, including original theatrical stereo, three commentary tracks, and English SDH subtitles.

IMDb : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095379/

Video encoded in two-pass 16.0 Mbps x265 10bit with the veryslow preset for archive quality image. Audio encoded separately with Apple AAC for the highest-quality AAC sound available. Subtitles converted to VobSub and repositioned.

Note : Here's another do-over, from the same remaster as previous, but with increased bitrate and improved settings, and also adding two additional commentary tracks.

Scott Spiegel, screenwriter of Evil Dead II, has also made a career for himself as a director of various horror movies, and this is probably the best of the bunch, a late-80s slasher with a setting I've never seen before, a supermarket at night. It features Elizabeth Cox, Renée Estevez, Dan Hicks, and Ted Raimi, as well as minor appearances by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Greg Nicotero. Once it gets going, the kills are both gory and original, and the twisty ending is pretty fun. Well worth it for slasher fans.

A group of workers are on the night shift restocking shelves in a supermarket when they're informed the store will be sold and they'll lose their jobs. One of the workers' boyfriend shows up and causes a scene, then disappears, and the police won't help. Then, the murders start, using all sorts of cutting and stabbing implements you might find in the storage and food handling areas of a supermarket.

This isn't a great looking remaster, quite soft and fuzzy, a bit grainy, although color and contrast is decent, all in all it does the job. The stereo track is fine, all the commentary tracks are entertaining, all over totally acceptable.
