Description

Textbook in PDF format

This book addresses the basic physical phenomenon of small-angle scattering (SAS) of neutrons, X-rays or light from complex hierarchical nano- and
microstructures. The emphasis is on developing theoretical models for the material structure containing self-similarity or fractal clusters. Within the uggested framework, key approaches for extracting structural information from experimental scattering data are investigated and presented in detail. The text includes the selection of fractal models, ranging from mass to surface fractal type, along with their combinations. The range of parameters which can be obtained paves the road toward a better understanding of the correlations between geometrical and various physical properties (electrical, magnetic, mechanical, optical, dynamical, transport, etc.) in fractal nano- and micro-materials. This has important consequences in the
design and fabrication of complex materials with predefined structure and functions. Thus, the book is aimed at a broad range of graduate students and researchers in physics, chemistry, biology and materials science.
