A two-album California trio that attempted to fuse psychedelic, country, and prog. Listening to it reveals many excellent themes, which the members themselves, with enviable consistency, obliterate with tedious improvisations—either their sense of proportion was failing them, or management was pressuring them. Drummer Chet McCracken is superb (he was later lured to the Doobie Brothers). The first album features ten songs in a hard rock vein, but the frequent acoustic moments slightly detract from the overall experience. However, songs like "Commit Yourself," "Easy To Be Free," and "Take A Look At Yourself" are very good
