this is a book written back about 1000 years ago, back during the Heian Period … it was written about the same time as the the Tale of Genji, but, it is not a fiction story like the Tale of Genji … it is a series of observations of various real life things seen/experienced/enjoyed by a woman who had spent time as a “lady in waiting” at the Imperial Court … so it could be considered as background material for the Tale of Genji story
