Original audio mix from LaserDisc includes the Schoolly D song "Signifying Rapper" which was subsequently removed from the soundtrack due to a lawsuit by Led Zeppelin over a sample from their song "Kashmir" that was used. The 1995 LaserDisc re-release, and every DVD and Blu-ray released since, have only ambient sound during the chase and hospital scenes, and during the rape scene, church organ music is played instead. Director Abel Ferrera was not happy with having to edit the soundtrack, and during an interview with AV Club said the following: Exactly. And it ruined the movie. I was so pissed off, I said, "All right, fuck this." We could have changed it and put other music in those spots, but I said, "Fuck this, we ain't putting nothing in." This is one of those decisions you end up regretting. The stereo mix with copyright edits is essentially the same on all blu-ray discs and the Fabulous Films GBR disc was preferred for having higher bitrate with less noise in the spectrogram. The new surround remix from Kino Lorber UHD disc is included, and audio commentary from the Studio Canal GER disc was preferred for its lossless format.
