Description

A recent crash made me very aware of just how difficult this has been to set up if
you're not a programmer - so there you go, all done for you.

This is a very special OSX virtual machine (Mountain Lion 10.8.2), which I
specially tuned for medical imaging - it's got Osirix 3.9 64-bit, and it's optimized for smooth operation.

Osirix is installed in both versions (32 and 64 bit), and it does run smooth in 64-
bit; however its 3d accelerated functions don't work - but MPR, MIP and DCE curves do.

First of all - Intel and AMD, just run the included batch files to switch NVRAM
contents, and it should be set to go.
The CPU should be at least 3 GHz and 4 cores - the graphics is accelerated mostly
through the CPU, there's no other way than sheer brute force- it flies on Ryzen,
that one should do, but even a Phenom 1 was ok.
Screen resolution will go beyond fullHD but 4k... not guaranteed.
Because most if not all 2d graphical acceleration is done on the CPU, although
very efficiently, it will slow down a little if you go for higher resolution, but
1920*1080 is smooth - it's way better than running an OSX vm on a real Mac.
Old Osirix versions phone home - the official website's server shuts them down
instantly - i've blocked it and it will not be able to phone home.
No sound support - none needed for its purpose.
File sharing works, just run the VMware unlocking script, VMware tools are
installed.

It is intended for importing patinet examinations by linking files through VMware
shared folders, or by adding a physical volume or drive.
RAMDISKs recommended for extracting zipped examinations.
No USB, no optical drives - import through shared folders - you do need to
enable and define them in vmware, and it will work.
Firefox works (albeit old one), FTP too, and it WILL see other Osirixes in the LAN.

Any tinkering - Admin 123456
