The first edition was published five years ago and, since then, the field of nanoparticles and their hybrid nanocomposites produced by physical methods, has continued to expand at a fast pace. Hence, the main objective of this new edition is to update the reader on the new development in the design and characterization of hybrid nanoparticles (HNPs) produced by magnetron-sputtering-based inert-gas-condensation (MS-IGC) method. The new edition retains the scope and the characteristics of the first edition to give a concise overview on the technical approaches of the synthesis and characterization of HNPs, to provide new insights into one of the most promising‘bottom-up’ techniques, based on a practical MS-IGC method, and to evaluate theperformances of this method under different conditions.
