Encode Comparison vs. Source

Notes:
An updated release of this early 90s fantasy martial arts OVA.
All encodes to date were either lacking in detail or did not correct for several pernicious artifacts inherent to the source. In particular, the R1 DVD exhibited some egregious dot-crawl and rainbowing which were highly distracting in motion and required significant work to ameliorate at the cost of softening the image somewhat. Further treatments to reduce or eliminate haloing, chroma noise, as well adaptive grain-matching of macroblocking in darker regions were applied. VFR to preserve smooth scrolling ED credits. See comparison screenshots above.
Somewhat unusual for a dual-audio DVD, the old Streamline Pictures disc contains no official English subtitles therefore the original translation by Ale1ster and a later revision by bnop were compared here. The original script contained a fair amount of stilted language while the latter edit removed much of the original included notes and background information. Therefore, both were merged for this release to retain the original TL notes as well as the more natural dialogue improvements. Additional QC by me to correct several residual spelling/grammar errors, retime the script to eliminate scenebleeds and reduced Characters Per Second (CPS) load for enhanced readability, adjust and join linebreaks to improve flow, and provide additional styling. Unstyled subtitle options are included for those that prefer them, as well as signs-only tracks for dub viewers.
