Story
In U.C. 0079, young Earth Federation officer Shiro Amada is en route to the fiercely contested Far East front when he is caught in a battle and meets Aina Sakhalin, a female pilot from the Principality of Zeon. Though drawn to each other, they part ways. Shiro is assigned as commander of the Kojima Battalion’s 08th MS Team, while Aina goes to the front to aid her brother, Ginius. But fate brings them together again. Matured by harsh combat, Shiro uncovers Zeon’s secret weapon plan, the “Apsaras Project.” This, however, leads to a tragic reunion with Aina, the project’s test pilot, as enemies on the battlefield. Confirming their love for one another, they each pursue their ideals amidst the war. But as the Earth Federation and Zeon forces head for a final clash over the Apsaras Project, Shiro and Aina are forced to make a fateful decision.

Story
After the One Year War, Michel, discharged from the Federation Forces, traveled up a river in Southeast Asia with Kiki. On behalf of the 08th Team, they continued the search for the missing Shiro. One day, they found a crashed Komyu. Seeing signs of habitation inside, they decided to spend the night. The next morning, they awoke to find themselves tied up. Led by three children, Kiki and Michel were taken to a hut on a hill where they found a group of children led by a boy in a Zeon uniform. When questioned, the children grew agitated at their names. Kiki urged them to surrender to the Federation, but they refused, and she and Michel were confined again. The next day, having escaped their bonds, they found the children burying the body of a girl covered in bandages. As the children performed the burial with a detached air, Kiki taught them to fill the grave with flowers. Michel asked the name of the deceased girl. The leader replied it was Aina, and that Shiro was also dead and buried there. As Kiki’s kindness began to win the children over, she and Michel started digging up Shiro’s supposed grave that night. The children then told them the truth: no one was buried there. They began to tell the story of how they had crash-landed on Earth in the Komyu, how they met Shiro and Aina, and what the two had taught them.
