My translator is still kinda trying to figure out the game mechanics for season 1. A user by the name of BakuBlazer went through the first 6 episodes that I had already released and made some changes that made sense. Changes that we are going to stick by. Episode 5’s title 憎いあンちくしょう is a reference to the song “The Same Way” by Yukio Hashi released in 1963. The fact that they stylized ン in katakana (あンちくしょう) is a clear nod to the hit enka song with a dramatic, sentimental tone. The title is stylized identically to the song. Enka titles are often referenced in anime and manga for dramatic, ironic, or humorous effect — even in kids’ shows. Shows like Gintama, Doraemon, One Piece, Crayon Shin-chan, and even Yu-Gi-Oh! have slipped in old-school pop culture references, often to amuse the adult staff or parents watching with kids. Another correction in episode 5, there is an anime-only ability card that Masquerade uses called “Drag in the Darkness” It was mistranslated as “Black in the Darkness”. Now I really think this is just a case of Masquerade’s Japanese Seiyuu botching the heck out of the pronunciation. I isolated the vocals and bgm for that scene, and YES, it is Drag in the Darkness. Also, the battle mechanics explained in these episodes have now been corrected.
