The objective of the research work is to assess how well the current renewable policy frameworks support the replacement of the fossil-based hydrogen by the renewable hydrogen.The first part of the research work is a review of the current policy frameworks supporting the development of renewable energy projects and renewable hydrogen production. The review covers the underpinning technical and economic aspects
of producing and using fossil-based and renewable hydrogen. Based on the review, the second part of the research consists on conducting a
survey of the targeted countries regarding the status of the respective renewable energy and hydrogen policies.
Building-up on the results of the two first steps, the third and last part of the research is an assessment of the potential for decarbonisation of industry sectors using fossil fuel-based hydrogen as feedstock
