New Kabuki production: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Hayao Miyazaki’s original manga “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,” all 7 volumes, is being adapted into a new Kabuki play! You still don’t know the whole story of this epic tale—a vast industrial civilization was burned to the ground by the “Giant Warriors” in a war known as the Seven Days of Fire, and the land was covered by the Sea of Corruption, a forest of fungi inhabited by giant insects and emitting poisonous miasma.
Yet, human conflict continued unabated, and the two great nations of Tolmekia and Dorok began to wage war. Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is a princess who loves insects and can communicate with them. By chance, Nausicaä obtains a secret stone that controls the “Giant Warriors,” and while caught up in the war, she begins her journey to unravel the mysteries of the Sea of Corruption and the insects, and to light a beacon of hope in a world twilight.
