In 1964, five American servicemen stationed in Germany decided to do something unusual for soldiers – they organized a rock and roll band called "Torquays". The band's lineup was as follows: Gary Burger (guitar, vocals), Larry Clark (organ, vocals), Dave Day (guitar, vocals), Roger Johnston (drums, vocals) and Eddie Shaw (bass, vocals). In terms of repertoire, it was a typical beat group for its time, performing Chuck Berry covers, surf music and hits by performers from the "British Invasion"
