Notes:
An updated release of this early 90s fantasy OVA, chiefly to supersede a Neolithic Age Divx-based one by Anime-4ever.
a4e’s old rip had accidentally cropped out some of the introductory subtitles, but you can’t really blame them as the DVD authoring was unusually formatted in what looks to be a 1.85:1 picture squeezed into a 4:3 frame using massive letterboxes with some hardsubbed signs extending into the letterbox regions both above and below the picture. The ending credits also scroll the full vertical length of the frame which is why the cropped resolution appears the way it does here. Treatments to reduce or eliminate haloing, chroma noise, rainbowing, and dot-crawl, were applied. VFR to preserve smooth motion of scrolling English text. See comparison screenshots above.
R1 Media Blasters DVD subtitles were OCR’d with additional QC by me to correct the following:

Tighten script timings to reduce scene bleeds
Preserve honorifics and Japanese name order
Join certain lines to improve flow

Unstyled and original image subtitle options also included for those that prefer them.
A behind the scenes DVD extra is also included, which notably features a young Megumi Hayashibara (in her role as the female lead) early into her seiyuu career.
